Jason Raynard Peters is an offensive tackle with the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL).
He was able to realize his goal of becoming the team’s tight end. He then played with the Philadelphia Eagles for the following 12 years before being moved to the Chicago Bears in 2021.
He was acquired by the Eagles in a trade in 2009, and they immediately started him. Peters played football for the Arkansas Razorbacks during his time in college.
Although he was initially targeted as a defensive lineman, he spent his first season with the team as a reserve. After his junior year, Peters’ 21 receptions for 218 yards and four touchdowns earned him a spot on the All-SEC second team.
In his final season at Virginia Tech, Peters had 61 knockdown blocks, more than twice as many as catches (21). He is frequently compared to Denver Broncos big man Orson Mobley by observers.
He was projected to be selected in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft, but he was not selected. Jason Peters was acquired by the Philadelphia Eagles from the Buffalo Bills on April 17, 2009.
He suffered a second rupture of his Achilles tendon while training outside of the regular season in May 2012. Peters renewed his contract with the Eagles in February 2014 for an additional five years at a cost of $51.3 million.
During a Seattle Seahawks vs. Washington Redskins game in 2014, offensive tackle Jason Peters got into a fight on the sidelines.
On September 21, 2014, Redskins player Chris Baker illegally knocked out Eagles quarterback Nick Foles during a game against the Washington Redskins.
After the hit, both teams started fighting on the sidelines. Peters approached Baker, and after taking a swing at Baker, both players were expelled from the game.
A $10,000 fine was imposed on Peters on September 27, 2014. Peters extended his one-year deal with the Eagles until the 2019 campaign on June 14, 2017.
Peters departed the game on Monday, October 23, 2017, during Monday Night Football against the Redskins due to what seemed to be a right knee injury.
