A professional offensive tackle for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League, Tyler Smith plays football. He weighs 151 kg and is 1.98 meters tall. He went to North Crowley High School, where he played football in high school. He was chosen for the third team all-state and first team all-district teams during his junior year.
He first committed to playing collegiate football at Abilene Christian when he was still a three-star prospect fresh out of high school. In spite of receiving offers from Houston, Navy, and New Mexico, he decommitted and chose to play for the University of Tulsa’s Tulsa Golden Hurricane football team.
In 2019, when he was a true freshman, he redshirted but participated in the final four contests of the year. He was selected first-team all-American Athletic Conference in 2020 after starting all nine of the team’s games at left tackle during COVID-19’s truncated season (AAC). Also in 2020, he was selected for the FWAA all-freshman team.
As a redshirt sophomore, he started each of the 12 games for the Golden Hurricane and was selected to the second team of the AAC. His decision to renounce his remaining collegiate eligibility and declare for the 2022 NFL Draft was made public after the season ended. In the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Smith was selected by the Dallas Cowboys with the 24th overall choice.
