Sam Williams is a defensive end for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League. He stands 1.93 m tall and weighs 118 kg. While attending Robert E. Lee High School, he played football for the varsity team. In 2017 and 2018, he participated in collegiate football at Northeast Mississippi Community College before transferring to the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) for his sophomore and senior years.
At Ole Miss, he played collegiate football for the Ole Miss Rebels. He played in 12 games during his debut season at Ole Miss in 2019, compiling 38 tackles, 6 sacks, and 1 interception. In 2020, he participated in ten games, starting six of them, and recording 40 tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss, and four sacks. He broke the school record for the most sacks in a single season in 2021 at Ole Miss. As a senior, he was chosen for Sporting News and Walter Camp’s second team All-America.
He was named for the first Southeastern Conference team, the third All-America team of the Associated Press, and the fourth All-America team of Phil Steele. He set a Rebel defensive lineman record dating back to 2018 with 57 total tackles and tied the school record with 10.5 sacks. Williams was selected by the Dallas Cowboys with the 56th overall pick in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
