He spent the first two seasons of his football career at Walton High School before switching to Niceville High School for the final two. By returning interceptions for touchdowns in five straight games as a sophomore in 2015, he established a new high school record across the nation. He was third on the team overall and topped all defensive backs with 59 tackles (38 solo).
As a junior in 2021, he participated in and started each of the 12 games at safety. He graduated from Georgia Tech with a B.S. in literature, media, and communication in December 2021. After going undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft, Thomas signed as an undrafted free agent with the Dallas Cowboys.
