Shane Lemieux received a criminal law degree at graduation. He attended West Valley High School in Yakima, Washington, where as a freshman, he played tight end before transferring as a sophomore to right tackle.
Lemieux played left tackle in his junior and senior years, and in 2014, he was named to the first team of the conference.
He also participated in the defensive line, where as a senior, he recorded 10.0 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks. In 2015, he took part in the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl. He received an honourable mention of all-league honours as a junior and first-team All-Big 9 honours as a senior.
Lemieux was an offensive lineman and tight end for West Valley High School. He was given offers from more than half of the Pac-12 schools and was listed as the 36th-best offensive lineman recruit.
Lemieux, a 3-star recruit, chose Oregon over offers from Boise State, Michigan, NC State, and South Carolina, among others, on May 3, 2014. Despite redshirting his first season, Lemieux did not miss a single game between 2016 and 2019, starting 52 of them.
Lemieux and a few of his teammates, notably quarterback Justin Herbert, debated leaving after his junior season to enter the NFL Draft but ultimately elected to stay.
Lemieux also requested a review from the NFL’s College Advisory Board, who urged him to finish his education. Lemieux was chosen first-team all-Pac-12 and a second-team All-American after his senior year, according to the Associated Press and Sporting News.
