According to ESPN, he was rated as a four-star prospect. Robinson had previously indicated that he would play college football for Florida, but he changed his mind and decided to sign with Alabama just before the National Signing Day deadline.
Robinson attended Alabama University during his first year of college. As a true freshman, he participated in 13 games, primarily as a reserve cornerback but also on special teams. During the summer before his sophomore year at Alabama, Robinson made the decision to switch schools and ultimately enrolled at Central Florida. He publicized his intention to leave Alabama during that summer.
