Former Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver Sterling Shepard is in his seventh season with the Giants. After a successful college career, he was drafted by the New York Giants in the second round with the 40th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
Shepard was given a deal for $5.94 million by the Giants on May 6, 2016, and it was for four years. Of that total, $3.24 million was guaranteed, and he also received a signing bonus of $2.52 million.
In his first season with the Giants, Shepard was one of the starting wide receivers for the team heading into the regular season, along with Odell Beckham Jr. He started the Giants’ season opener against the Dallas Cowboys and caught his first career touchdown from Eli Manning on a nine-yard pass, propelling the Giants to a 20–19 victory.
Shepard got off to a strong start in 2017, recording nine receptions for a total of 67 receiving yards in the first two games of the season, which were played against the Dallas Cowboys and the Detroit Lions.
Shepard extended his contract with the Giants on April 10, 2019, signing a new deal worth $41 million over four years with a guaranteed sum of $21.3 million.
