Matthew “Matt” Peart, an offensive tackle for the New York Giants of the National Football League, was born in Jamaica. He is 2.01 m tall and weighs 144 kg. He participated in football as an offensive and defensive lineman while attending Governor’s Academy in Massachusetts, where the Governors won four straight Independent School League titles.
He received a two-star recruiting rating and after graduating from high school, he signed a letter of intent to play collegiate football at the University of Connecticut. He took part in football for the University of Connecticut Huskies. He redshirted his first year at UConn as a true freshman.
Similar to his redshirt junior season, he started every game for UConn’s 12 games in his redshirt senior campaign. In his final season, he was named to the first team of the American Athletic Conference. Peart was chosen by the New York Giants with the 99th overall choice in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He made his NFL debut in the sixth week of his career.
He has played in college in the past. He was placed on injured reserve in December 2020 after tearing his ACL during the Week 16 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. For the entire season, he appeared in 15 games. In August 2022, he was placed on the PUP/reserve list to begin the season.
