Chauncey Gardener-Johnson, also known as C. J. Gardner-Johnson, plays safety for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League. He stands 1.80 meters tall and weighs 95 kilograms. He attended Cocoa High School before playing NCAA football for the Florida Gators at the University of Florida, where he pursued his education.
As a true freshman, he took part in each of the 14 games. Gardner-Johnson recorded two tackles, two interceptions, one of which was recovered for a score, and was selected as the Outback Bowl MVP in 2017. During his second season, he started all 11 of the games. In November 2018, he announced that he would forgo his last year of eligibility in order to enter the 2019 NFL Draft.
Gardner-Johnson was chosen by the New Orleans Saints with the 105th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 13, he made his first career interception. He started seven games as the starting safety in 2021. The Philadelphia Eagles acquired Gardner-Johnson and a 2025 seventh-round pick from the Saints on August 30, 2022, in exchange for a fifth-round pick and the lower of the Eagles’ two 2024 sixth-round picks.
