Jalen Alexander Hurts, a quarterback with the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League, was born on August 7, 1998. His first three college football seasons were spent at Alabama.
He played his final year of eligibility at Oklahoma while being a member of the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship squad.
Near the end of his rookie season, Hurts displaced Carson Wentz as the Eagles’ starter after being selected by them in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
In Channelview, Texas, Hurts attended Channelview High School. Throughout Hurts’ high school career, Hurts’ father, Averion, served as the football coach at Channelview High School.
Hurts were drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles with the 53rd overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
He was promoted to a backup quarterback in Week 2 after being initially listed as Nate Sudfeld’s backup third-string quarterback, primarily so he could be used for quarterback running plays or as a decoy.
