Zechariah “Zech” McPhearson plays cornerback in the National Football League for the Philadelphia Eagles. He is 87 kilograms and 1.8 meters tall. He attended Riverdale Baptist High School and participated in football there. He originally enrolled at Pennsylvania State University after graduating from high school, where he played college football for the Penn State Nittany Lions squad.
He played football for the Penn State Nittany Lions for two seasons before transferring to Texas Tech to play for the Red Raiders. He participated in and started all 12 games for the “Red Raiders” during his junior season. With them that year, he recorded 51 tackles.
He took part in every one of the 10 games during his senior season, starting nine of them, recording a total of 53 tackles (at least two tackles in every one of the ten games) and four interceptions. The Big 12 coaches, the Associated Press, and Phil Steele Magazine all acknowledged his inclusion on the First Team All-Big 12 list. The Philadelphia Eagles selected McPhearson with the 123rd overall pick in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
He signed a four-year rookie contract with the Eagles in June of that year. He was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week in Week 1 of the 2022 season after making two special teams tackles and recovering an unexpected onside kick during a 38-35 victory over the Detroit Lions.
