Trey Sermon plays running back for the Philadelphia Eagles in the National Football League. He is 1.83 meters tall and weighs 98 kg. He played football while a student at Sprayberry High School. While a student at the University of Oklahoma, he participated in NCAA football for the Oklahoma Sooners. As a true freshman in 2017, he played in all 14 games and made three starts.
To finish the season, he had 121 carries for 744 yards and five touchdowns. As a sophomore, he ran for 947 yards and 13 touchdowns on 164 attempts. As a junior in 2019, he played in nine games and had 54 carries for 385 yards and four touchdowns.
He returned to Ohio State University in 2020 as a graduate transfer, where he played football once more for the Buckeyes. His 331 rushing yards in the 2020 Big Ten Championship Game broke records for both an Ohio State athlete and a Football Bowl Subdivision championship game. In the 2021 Sugar Bowl, he ran for 193 yards, scored a running touchdown, and caught 4 passes for 61 yards.
In the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers selected Sermon with the 88th overall pick. He was released by the 49ers on August 31, 2022. The Philadelphia Eagles took him off waivers the following day.
