Matt Leo is currently in his second season with the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League.
He was born on May 8, 1992, in Australia. After graduating from Iowa State University with a degree, he signed with the Eagles in 2020 as part of the International Player Pathway Program.
During his time playing collegiate football, he recorded 33 tackles and 3 sacks. As part of the International Player Pathway Program that runs from April 2020 through March 2021, Leo was sent to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Because of his status as a foreign player, the NFL granted him an exemption from the roster requirements for a second season.
During the 2021 Canadian Football League Global Draft, the Edmonton Elks chose Leo as their player in the fourth round (35th overall).
Leo was placed on waiver by the Eagles on August 30, 2022, and the following day, he was signed to the practice squad.
Leo was released by the Eagles on August 31, 2021, and immediately re-signed to the practice squad the following day.
On January 18, 2022, he joined the Eagles on a reserve/future basis by signing a deal with the team. Leo was placed on waiver by the Eagles on August 30, 2022, and the following day, he was signed to the practice squad.
