College Career
Key appeared in 12 games as a true freshman at LSU in 2015, starting nine of them. He was awarded a freshman All-American after recording 41 tackles and five sacks. He set a single-season school record with 12 sacks as a sophomore in 2016. The Associated Press named him first-team All-Southeastern Conference. Key was limited to just eight games as a junior due to injuries, but he finished with 33 tackles, four sacks, and a forced fumble. Professional Career
Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports projected Key as the number one overall prospect for the 2018 NFL Draft before his junior season. Mel Kiper of ESPN listed him as the number two draft prospect at outside linebacker in January 2018, behind Virginia Tech’s Tremaine Edmunds. Key was predicted to be a first-round pick, but his draft stock plummeted due to his off-the-field concerns. The Oakland Raiders selected Key as the 87th overall pick in the third round. Key re-signed with the San Francisco 49ers on April 23, 2021, for a one-year deal.
