He graduated from West Ashley High School, and while a student at the United States Military Academy, he participated in the 2018 East-West Shrine Game and played NCAA football for the Army Black Knights football team.
He tried just 65 forward passes in his final year while rushing 785 times. His playing time at center increased in week 17. He did suffer a knee injury in the second quarter, though, and was put on injured reserve in January 2022. He was placed on the reserve list to start the season in August 2022 after being added on the Active/PUP list in July that year.
