Darrick Forrest, a former strong safety for the Cincinnati Bearcats, was selected by the Washington Football Team in the fifth round (163rd overall) of the NFL Draft in 2021.
Forrest attended Walnut Ridge High School, which is located in Columbus, Ohio, and competed in football, basketball, and tracks. He was regarded as one of the top players in Columbus.
After graduating from high school, he received a rating of three stars as a recruit and received offers from a number of institutions, including Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Ohio, Toledo, and Youngstown State, among others.
Being a talented athlete, he had several options, but he ultimately decided to play college football for the Cincinnati Bearcats, for whom he was a member for four years.
Forrest was a pillar of the Blackcats’ defense throughout his career at UC, where he appeared in 49 games overall and started 36 of those games. During his time with the Bearcats, he started the remaining 28 games.
He finished with a total of 200 tackles, including 126 solo stops, in addition to 4.5 tackles for a loss. Forrest also intercepted six passes and returned them for 96 yards. He also blocked 12 passes and picked up a fumble. He received All-AAC honors not once, but twice.
