Professional quarterback Sam Howell competes for the National Football League’s Washington Commanders. He stands 1.85 m tall and weighs 100 kg. He went to Sun Valley High School, where he played high school football. After graduating from high school, he enrolled in the University of North Carolina, where he played NCAA football for the North Carolina Tar Heels.
In his first season, he became the first true freshman to start as quarterback, making history at the school. His first game saw him pass for 245 yards and two touchdowns. In the last weeks of the regular season, he completed 234 of 388 passes for 3,347 yards and 35 touchdowns.

In the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, the Washington Commanders selected Howell with the 144th overall pick. On May 6, 2022, he agreed to a rookie deal with a four-year term.
