In 2018, Danny Johnson participated in the NFL Combine. Johnson was undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft but was promptly signed to an undrafted free-agent deal by the Washington Redskins.
He participated in his first NFL game in the Redskins’ regular-season opener versus the Arizona Cardinals. He returned a kick 24 yards in the 24-6 victory. He was placed on injured reserve on December 19, 2018.
