John Ridgeway, who was in the 2022 NFL draft class, was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the fifth round. He is currently signed by the Washington Commanders as a free agent.
Ridgeway spent his childhood in Bloomington, Illinois, where he also received his high school education.
He was a multi-sport athlete who competed in football, track & field, and wrestling. As a utility player, he played as an offensive tackle and defensive on the football team.
As a senior, Ridgeway was honored by being selected to the Big Twelve Conference’s first team for offense and the state’s first team for defense. Additionally, he was victorious in the heavyweight division of the state wrestling tournament.
Ridgeway attended Illinois State University, where he played four seasons of college football for the Illinois State Redbirds.
He was recruited to play on the offensive line, but he focused on the defensive lineman position during his redshirt year. Ridgeway was chosen for the Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) All-Newcomer Team after his redshirt freshman year, when he made 30 tackles and one sack.
Ridgeway transferred to the University of Arkansas and played for a season. After the season ended, Ridgeway announced his intent to enter the 2022 NFL Draft.
