Alex Akingbulu is a professional football player who competes for the National Football League’s Washington Commanders as an offensive tackle. He stands 1.96 m tall and weighs 136 kg. He attended and participated in high school football at Narbonne High School, where ESPN ranked him as a three-star prospect and the No. 59 recruit in the state of California upon graduation.
He attended the University of California Los Angeles after high school, where he played his freshman and sophomore seasons. As a freshman in 2016 and 2017, he did not participate in any games while recovering from an injury. Fall 2016, Winter 2017, and Summer 2017 saw him recognized on the Academic Honor Roll for the Athletic Director.
As a junior in 2019, he played in seven games for the Bulldogs and started on the offensive line against Hawai’i, Utah State, and San Diego State. He was a significant contributor to field goal coverage and was selected for the 2019 Fall Academic All-MW pick. As a senior in 2020, he took part in two contests and started at left tackle against Nevada.
He helped protect the NCAA’s No. 5 passing offense and No. 17 total offense while being named to the Fall Academic All-Mountain West team. He was a free agent after the 2022 NFL Draft and was signed by the Washington Commanders football team.
