Prior to his senior career with the Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL), DaMarcus F. Fields played college football at Texas Tech and signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2022.

Fields participated in intramural football for the Texas Tech Red Raiders team at the university. Prior to starting each of his 13 games as a cornerback in 2017, he redshirted and did not participate.
He finished the season as the team’s fifth-leading tackler with a total of 51 tackles, two fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles, and one interception. In the conference, he recovered more fumbles overall than any other player, placing him 26th overall.
Fields finished his college career with 224 tackles overall, 13.5 for loss, 4 forced fumbles and 4 recoveries, 4 interceptions, and 45 passes defended in total. After the 2022 NFL Draft, Fields signed a free-agent contract with the New Orleans Saints.
On August 30, he was released, but the next day, he was re-signed to the practice squad. He made his NFL debut in the game against the Carolina Panthers in week three when he was promoted to the active roster.
Following the game, he was returned to the practice squad. On September 28, he was added to the active roster; however, on October 4, 2022, he was released. On October 26, 2022, he agreed to join the Washington Commanders’ practice squad.
