Born on November 6, 1992, Alex Michael Erickson is an American football wide receiver and return specialist for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL).
He played college football at Wisconsin and was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 2016. He has also been a member of the Carolina Panthers.
Erickson amassed 3,856 yards and 57 touchdowns on the ground at Darlington High School, 3,648 yards and 37 more through the air, 170 tackles, and 14 interceptions. As a senior, he was selected to participate in the WFCA All-Star game and was recognized as the Small School Player of the Year by the Wisconsin State Journal.
After gaining 2,489 total yards of offense (1,239 rushing and 1,250 passing), scoring 33 touchdowns (20 rushing and 13 passing), making 50 tackles with three interceptions, and accumulating 33 touchdowns total (20 rushing and 13 passing), he was named to the first team of the state and conference as a defensive back and quarterback, respectively.
2016 saw Erickson sign as an undrafted free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals’ final roster only had one other undrafted free agent, and that was him.
He began the season as the team’s primary kick and punt returner, a position he held the entire year, as well as the backup receiver.
He had 6 catches for 71 yards on the year and averaged 7.0 yards on punt returns and 27.9 yards on kickoff returns. In the NFL, his 810 kickoff return yards were the most.
