Chase Young, who was considered by the media to be the best overall prospect, decided to forgo his senior year at Ohio State in favour of declaring for the 2020 NFL Draft.
He visited the NFL Combine but did not participate in any exercises or drills, claiming that he did not want to waste time as a “combine athlete.”
Young was one of 58 athletes chosen in the draft, which essentially resulted from social segregation laws imposed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. He was selected by the Washington Redskins in the second round. He signed a $34.56 million, four-year rookie contract on July 23, 2020.
