Phidarian “Phil” Mathis is a defensive tackle in American football. He presently plays with the Washington Commanders, who are a part of the National Football League.
On April 26, 1998, Mathis was brought into the world. (NFL). After playing college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide, he was taken by the Commanders in the second round of the NFL Draft in 2022.
On April 26th, 1998, Mathis was born in the town of Wisner, which is located in the state of Louisiana. After completing his freshman year of secondary school in Franklin Parish, Louisiana,
at Franklin Parish High School, he moved to Monroe, Louisiana, and enrolled at Neville High School. He continued his schooling there until he graduated from Neville High School.
His final year in high school saw him finish with a total of 41 tackles and seven sacks. Mathis was a four-star prospect who had offers to play college football from both LSU and TCU.
However, he decided to go with Alabama instead. Mathis reached his conclusion after considering Alabama’s stellar reputation.
Mathis was selected by the Washington Commanders in the second round of the NFL Draft in 2022, making him the team’s overall selection.
This placed him at the 47th spot overall. Mathis was a true freshman at Alabama when he was awarded a redshirt and then named to the All-Freshman team in the Southeastern Conference.
Mathis’s success at Alabama led to his selection for the team (SEC). His work on defence helped the Crimson Tide win the 2021 College Football Playoff National Championship.
He had 31 tackles, five tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble during the game. In addition, he also recovered a fumble that was lost by another player.
After playing in his first game for the NFL, Mathis suffered a tear to the meniscus in his left knee and was subsequently placed on injured reserve as a result.
