Weston Robert Schweitzer is a guard who plays American football for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League.
Schweitzer was born on September 11, 1993, in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft and went on to become a professional football player.
Schweitzer had his secondary education at Chaparral High School. He was a multi-sport athlete who competed in football and wrestling.
During his time there, the school won more than three consecutive state championships in each discipline.
After completing his high school education, he planned to join the United States Marine Corps; however, he was presented with opportunities to earn athletic scholarships, and he decided to accept them instead.
Wes Schweitzer attended San José State University, where he played college football for the San Jose State Spartans.
In his senior year of 2015, Schweitzer was selected as the team captain and was honored with All-Mountain West second-team honors.
Schweitzer received his diploma in 2016 with a major in chemistry. Not only was he inducted into the class of 2016 for the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society, but he also received four academic all-conference distinctions.
Schweitzer started all 25 of his team’s games during the 2014 and 2015 seasons, including the game that his team won in the 2015 Cure Bowl.
Schweitzer’s favorite pastime is rock climbing, and he does it whenever he gets the chance. While he was still playing with the Falcons, he began the hobby as a way to keep his arms in condition while he was out on the field. Specifically, he used it as a way to keep himself from getting injured
