Essang Bassey plays cornerback for the Denver Broncos of the National Football League professionally. He is 1.78 m tall and 86 kg in weight. He attended Columbus High School, where he played running back, wide receiver, and cornerback during his high school career. During his senior season, he averaged 30 yards per kickoff return, making him an explosive kick returner as well.
He participated in collegiate football for Wake Forest University’s Demon Deacons squad. He was given playing time as a reserve in every game as a true freshman. He played the most snaps for the team as a sophomore, recording 66 tackles and three interceptions. He was chosen for the second team All-ACC during his junior season.
As an undrafted free agent, Bassey signed with the Denver Broncos in April 2020. He intercepted his first pass of the year against the New Orleans Saints in Week 12.
