He played five seasons of collegiate football for the Texas Longhorns football team while attending the University of Texas after graduating from high school.
As a sophomore, he was promoted to the starting lineup and mostly played as a blocker while catching eight receptions for 77 yards. His junior year saw him haul in four catches for 82 yards and two scores. He was voted first-team All-Big 12 Conference as a redshirt senior with 28 receptions for 281 yards and two scores.
