Trent Sherfield is an American football wide receiver with the National Football League’s San Francisco 49ers. He was born on February 26, 1996. He was a Vanderbilt University football player.
Sherfield finished his career at Vanderbilt with 136 receptions for 1,869 yards, ranking ninth in both categories. As a senior captain, he recorded 50 receptions for 729 yards and five touchdowns, which led the team and set a career-high.
On May 9, 2018, Sherfield became an undrafted free agent with the Arizona Cardinals. Sherfield recovered a blocked punt for a score on August 23, 2018, during a preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys.
He caught two catches for 44 yards one week later in a game against the Denver Broncos. Sherfield appeared in 13 games as a rookie, making two starts, compiling 19 receptions for 210 yards and one score.
On November 27, 2020, the Cardinals activated Sherfield from the reserve/COVID-19 list.
On March 19, 2021, Sherfield signed with the San Francisco 49ers. Sherfield was officially added to the 49ers 53-man roster for the 2021 season following his preseason performance of five receptions for 156 yards and a score in three games.
