On April 12, 1999, Cornerback Damarri Deshon Mathis was born. He now competes for the National Football League’s Denver Broncos. He participated in collegiate football at Pittsburgh.
Lakeland Senior High School is located in the Florida town of Lakeland, where Mathis was raised. Mathis was a three-star prospect when he initially chose South Carolina as his college football home.
He later backed out of his commitment to South Carolina and signed with Pittsburgh.
As a freshman, Mathis participated in nine games, largely on special teams.
In his junior season, Mathis participated in all 13 of Pittsburgh’s games, including 10 starts. He finished the year with 23 tackles, 11 passes broken up, and 2 interceptions. He used a medical redshirt because of a shoulder issue that wasn’t related to football before his senior year.
Mathis was chosen honorable mention All-Atlantic Coast Conference in his fifth season after participating in 13 games, recording 44 tackles, breaking up six passes, and recovering two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.
He participated in the 2022 Senior Bowl following the conclusion of his college career.The Denver Broncos drafted Mathis in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 115th overall. He currently plays for the team now.
