As a senior, the South Florida Sun Sentinel named him to the second team for All-Broward County.
After graduating from high school, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and participated in collegiate football for the Wisconsin Badgers. As a redshirt freshman in 2018, he participated in 12 games and recorded 35 tackles, one interception, and three passes defended. He participated in 14 games in 2019 and started 12, with 32 tackles and one pass breakup.
He received unanimous honorable mention for the All-Big Ten team in 2020, and he started each of the club’s 11 games at cornerback in 2021. For the second year in a row, his 28 tackles and 10 pass interceptions earned him a position on the Big Ten’s unanimous honorable mention team. The Wuerffel Trophy is given annually to the college football player who “best integrates great community service with athletic and academic achievement.” During his tenure in college, he played cornerback in 44 games with 39 starts while compiling 108 total tackles. The Denver Broncos selected Hicks in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft. In August 2022, he was let go and signed the practice squad the next day.
