Josh Johnson, who was born on May 15th, 1986, was a letterwinner in football, basketball, and track & field while he was a student at Oakland Technical High School.
As a senior in football, he was selected to the first team of the City and was named the team’s Most Improved Player. He also helped his club win the Oakland Athletic League title. He was also Marshawn Lynch’s cousin’s teammate.
He is presently a football quarterback for the Denver Broncos of the National Football League (NFL).
After Mortensen left for the 2005 season, Johnson was given the starting position and after shattering multiple records, he was given some All-America honours.
Johnson has eight games with four or more passing touchdowns, winning three conference player of the week awards. When he threw for a school-record seven touchdowns against Valparaiso, it was his best performance of the year (all coming in the first half).
Johnson was selected by numerous teams despite attending a small school. His outstanding NFL Combine accomplishments, where he recorded the greatest 40-yard sprint time (4.53) and vertical jump of any quarterback in the 2008 NFL Combine, were helpful to him.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected him with the 160th overall pick (pick 25) in the fifth round of the 2008 NFL Draft. A classic journeyman quarterback, he played for 15 different NFL teams during his career.
Johnson inked a contract with the Denver Broncos on March 18, 2022. On August 30, 2022, he was discharged, and the following day, he was added to the practice squad. Johnson was added to the team’s active roster on October 22, 2022, as a result of an injury to starting quarterback Russell Wilson.
