Bolles went through a lot of phases in his life before becoming a professional player. He was raised by another family after his dad kicked him out of the house. Bolles is a member of the Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Bolles started his athletic career while attending Westlake High School in Saratoga Springs, Utah. Aside from football, he participated in lacrosse. He played as a utility player on the football team (on the offensive and defensive lines).
Bolles attended Snow College and played two years of college football. Following his sophomore year at Snow College, Bolles was named to the NJCAA first-team All-America after starting each of his 11 games.
He was selected to the All-WSFL first team and was named the Western State Football League’s Offensive Player of the Year for 2015. Bolles led Snow College to the WSFL title and the Salt City Bowl, two victories that boosted the school’s NJCAA ranking to second.
Bolles transferred to the University of Utah in his senior year and played for the Utah Utes. Bolles committed to Utah as the top junior college player in 2016.
After starting all 13 of his games (891 total plays) at left tackle during his one season with the University of Utah, Bolles was named to the All-Pac-12 Conference First Team.
