Shane Buechele is a quarterback for the National Football League’s Kansas City Chiefs. He is 1.83 meters tall and weighs 95 kg. He attended Mirabeau B. Lamar High School and participated in varsity football there. During his high school career, he rushed for 6,379 yards and 21 touchdowns on 1,805 carries. He received an invitation to the Elite 11 quarterback competition since he was one of the top quarterback prospects in his class.
His accuracy there won over the coaches, and he went on to finish in second place overall. He played collegiate football for the Texas Longhorns from 2016 to 2018 at the University of Texas at Austin. In 2018, he took part in just two games.
He earned his degree from Texas before playing for the SMU Mustangs in collegiate football. Later, he changed schools to Southern Methodist University. He got the start for the Mustangs against Arkansas State in the opening round. He completed 30 of his 49 throws in the fourth quarter for 360 yards and one interception in the 37-30 victory.
After going undrafted in the 2021 NFL Draft, Buechele signed on with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in May of that same year. In 2021, he was fired on August 31. The next day, he was added to their practice squad, and on November 16, 2021, he was elevated from that group.
