On May 3, 1992, Jerick Deshun McKinnon, a running back with the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs, was born. He was chosen by the Minnesota Vikings in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft after playing college football for Georgia Southern.
He had previously played for the 49ers. McKinnon received an invite to the 2014 NFL Draft Combine, where he improved his standing by running the fastest 40-yard dash times among running backs (unofficial times of 4.38 and 4.35 in 4.41 seconds) and by leading all running backs in bench press reps with 32.
McKinnon ranked second on the club in rushing yards and led the Vikings in running yards despite making just six starts and averaging 4.8 yards per carry as a rookie.
On April 30, 2021, McKinnon inked a one-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs. On November 30, he was listed on injured reserve. On January 1, 2022, he was activated.
McKinnon recorded his first rushing touchdown with Kansas City against the Denver Broncos in Week 18 of the regular season. The Chiefs won 28-24 against the Broncos.
