Philadelphia Eagles are an American professional football team. The team was established as a replacement to an already existing team known as the Frankford Yellow Jackets. The reason is that the Yellow Jackets had gone bankrupt so were asked to cease operations.
The Philadelphia Eagles had their franchise in 1933 led by Bert Bell. Their home stadium is the Lincoln Financial Field. The team is currently owned by Jeffrey Lurie. Their colors are midnight green, black, white, silver.
Why the name Philadelphia Eagles?
In the year 1933, the then USA president; Franklin D. Roosevelt started a National Recovery Act with its aim to eliminate ‘cut-throat competitions’. In general, it was to help businesses and the government set suitable working conditions and wages system for the people. So, as a sign of buying into this, Bell used the logo of the Act which was a blue eagle.
Although the team had adopted the Eaglets they were known by the league as the Iron Men. The then-new owner Alexis Thompson renamed his new team Iron Men, The Eagles before any game and they have since been called Philadelphia Eagles.
