Who is coach Wes Welker?
Wesley Carter Welker is an American football coach and former wide receiver who currently serves as the wide receivers coach for the National Football League’s Miami Dolphins (NFL). He formerly worked for the San Francisco 49ers and Houston Texans as an assistant coach.
Wesley Carter Welker was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on May 1, 1981. His college football career was spent with the Texas Tech Red Raiders until he was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2004 by the San Diego Chargers. Welker has also played with the Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, Denver Broncos, and St. Louis Rams.
At Heritage Hall High School in Oklahoma City, Welker began his football career. The Chargers won the 2A State Football Championship over Tishomingo High School in his junior year because of his leadership.
A 47-yard field goal, three touchdowns, and an interception were Welker’s highlights in that game. A total of 3,235 rushing yards and 53 rushing touchdowns were achieved during his high school career, which also saw him record 174 receptions for 2,551 yards and 27 receiving scores.
He had 581 tackles, 22 interceptions, three pick-sixes, and nine fumble recoveries in his career as a defensive back. He also did some extra point and field goal kicking, amassing a total of 165 made extra points and 35 made field goals.
