In 2013, the Kansas City Chiefs hired Heck as their offensive line coach. When the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 31-20 in Super Bowl LIV in 2019, he won his first Super Bowl.
Heck’s offensive line created the stage for quarterback Patrick Mahomes to throw the game’s biggest momentum-turning play, a 44-yard pass to Tyreek Hill on third-and-15 in the fourth quarter, when the Chiefs were down 20-10 against the 49ers.
Kansas Chiefs might have been forced to punt or chance to go for it on fourth-and-long if they didn’t have the required protection.
In a phone conversation with the Times-Union, Heck said, “I made sure and found every one of my linemen first.” “Those were some hefty hugs.” There were a few good crashes.”

A seasoned Heck had weathered 420 games (including playoffs) before collecting his first Super Bowl ring after playing 12 seasons at predominantly left tackle for three separate teams (Seattle, Chicago, and Washington), then coaching 16 years with the Jaguars and Chiefs.
