A Colombian professional baseball pitcher with the Tampa Bay Rays of Major League Baseball, Luis Fernando Patio formerly played in Major League Baseball for the San Diego Padres.
Patio joined the Padres as an international free agent on July 2, 2016. With the Arizona League Padres and the Dominican Summer League Padres, he compiled a record of 4–2 with a 2.25 ERA in 13 appearances (12 starts).
Patio pitched for the Fort Wayne TinCaps in 2018, posting a 6–3 record with a 2.16 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP in 17 starts. With the Lake Elsinore Storm for the start of the 2019 season, he was selected to play in the 2019 All-Star Futures Game.
The Amarillo Sod Poodles promoted him in August. Patio compiled a 6–8 record with a 2.57 ERA and 123 strikeouts in 94+2/3 innings of work in 19 starts between the two organizations.
