Fred Whittingham

Fred George Whittingham was an American football player and coach who was born on February 4, 1939.

He was a linebacker with the Los Angeles Rams, Philadelphia Eagles, New Orleans Saints, and Dallas Cowboys in the National Football League (NFL).

Whittingham attended Brigham Young University (BYU) and California Polytechnic State University, where he played collegiate football. From 1973 until 2000, he coached in the NFL and at the college level.

On the 4th of February, 1939, Whittingham was born in Boston, Massachusetts. When he was nine months old, he was placed in state foster care until being adopted by the Whittinghams of Warwick, Rhode Island.

He was a member of the football, basketball, baseball, and track teams at Warwick Veterans Memorial High School. In football, basketball, and track, he received All-State honors.

Even though he was considered one of the top athletes in the New England area, he had a rough adolescence and missed half of his senior season, scaring schools away.

Whittingham was named one of Rhode Island’s top 50 athletes of the century.

Nancy Livingston Whittingham

Nancy Livingston was a cheerleader from California who attended BYU. She has four boys and two daughters with her husband, Fred Whittingham. She met Fred Whittingham in her Sophomore year through a mutual friend.

Kyle Whittingham, her older son, is an American football coach and former player.

Nancy Whittingham was the youngest of her three siblings. Nancy attends the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,
