Hirokazu Sawamura is a Japanese baseball player who plays the position of pitcher for the Boston Red Sox team of the Major League Baseball(MLB). Hirokazu was born on April 3, 1988, in Tochigi, Japan.
He has a height of 1.83 m and weighs 212 pounds.
Hirokazu started his baseball career at Chuo University where he played college baseball for the University in Tokyo.
In 2011, Hirokazu was signed into the Yomiuri Giants baseball team and he played for them from 2011 through to 2020. Within that period, he played a total of nine seasons for the Yomiuri Giants. He was honoured and named the Central League Rookie of the Year.
In 2013, he was honoured again and named the MVP of the first game of the NPB All-Star Series. Hirokazu pitched interchangeably during his first four seasons with the Yomiuri Giants. He was positioned as a starting pitcher from the beginning of the season up until after 2014 when he switched to being a relief pitcher.
Hirokazu was traded by the Giants on September 8, 2020, to the Chiba Lotte Marines baseball team. A year later, he signed a two-year contract worth $3 million with the Boston Red Sox team. Within that same year in April, he made his MLB debut with the Bostons.
