Ronaldo Hernandez Scouting Report

Ronaldo Hernández, a Dominican baseball player, is a 23-year-old catch prospect for the Boston Red Sox. After compiling a.959 OPS in his final 56 games for Double-A Portland, he was promoted.

The teenage catcher is not a top prospect in his international signing class, but it’s the kind of bonus that puts a player on the organization’s radar as they begin their professional careers.

The next year, in 2015, Hernández began his professional career in the DSL,  and he only played in 13 games that summer.

As a result, he returned to the Dominican Republic the following summer, finally gaining some significant playing time at the age of 18 and hitting.340/.398/.485.

The AL East rivals agreed to trade relievers Chris Mazza and Jeffrey Springs to Tampa Bay in exchange for catcher Ronaldo Hernandez and infield prospect Nick Sogard on Wednesday morning.

The Tampa Bay Rays have relegated him to the lower minors. The Rays traded LHP Jeffrey Springs, RHP Chris Mazza, and cash to the Red Sox on February 17, 2021, in exchange for SS Nick Sogard.

Ronaldo Hernandez has been sent to the Worcester Red Sox from the Portland Sea Dogs. The Boston Red Sox have activated Ronaldo Hernandez.
