Enrique Hernández is a professional baseball player who plays for the Boston Red Sox baseball team. He is a Puerto Rican who was born on August 24, 1991, in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
His parents are Enrique Hernandez Sr., a scout for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Mónica González. He is the firstborn among three siblings followed by two younger sisters. Enrique started to play baseball as early as six years old and he took part in international youth tournaments in both Venezuela and the Dominican Republic.
Enrique began his amateur career in high school at the American Military Academy in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. The Houston Astros drafted him during the sixth round of the 2009 Major League Baseball(MLB) draft plus a $150,000 signing bonus. He played for the Astros from 2009 to 2014. He made his MLB debut in July 2014 with the Astros.
The Astros traded him to the Miami Marlins in July 2014. In December that same year, he was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers where he played till February 2021 when he signed a two-year contract worth $14 million with the Boston Red Sox.
Enrique Hernández got married in December 2019 to his long time girlfriend Mariana Vicente in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The couple welcomed a daughter in January 2021.
