He became the first Englishman to win the US Amateur since Harold Hilton in 1911 when he won the 2013 event.
With a T44 finish in the 2013 Open Championship and a T48 finish at the 2014 U.S. Open, he became the first amateur to win both the Open Championship and the U.S. Open at the same time since Bobby Jones in 1930.
