Travis Jankowski was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, on June 15, 1991. His mother, Kelly, was a softball player, and his father, Paul, was an Indiana University of Pennsylvania outfielder.
Jankowski and his elder brother, Tyler, were both trained by their father since they were children. In addition to weight training before school and team practice in the afternoon, Jankowski would practice batting by hitting into a net made in their basement by his father.
He grew up with his family in Pennsylvania, cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball (MLB).
Jankowski was a member of the baseball team as an outfielder and the football team as a wide receiver while attending Lancaster Catholic High School.
During his high school career, he had a number of injuries, including a collarbone fracture, a concussion, and a damaged ankle. Despite this, Jankowski had a.471 batting average, 25 runs scored, 20 RBIs, and 24 stolen bases during his junior season.
That season, the Associated Press nominated him to the All-State First Team, and he helped Lancaster Catholic win the district title.
On October 27, 2017, Jankowski married his wife, Lindsey. Cory Spangenberg and Colin Rea, both Padres teammates, acted as groomsmen for the wedding. The couple is the parents of two kids.
