Kentucky Wildcats rookie forward Bryce Hopkins has become the latest Wildcat to enter his name into the portal.
Announcing the news today, Thursday, April 7, 2022, Bryce joins Dontaie Allen as a player who has entered the portal such a long way since the season finished.
Hopkins was a previous 4-star prospect out of Chicago and was initially committed to Louisville, yet de-committed from the Cardinals for John Calipari and his Wildcats.
During his one season in Lexington, Hopkins arrived at an average of 6.4 minutes per game and 2.1 points per game on 43% shooting from the field and 1.4 rebounds per game.
Hopkins had a breakout game against the LSU Tigers at Rupp Arena this previous season, when the Wildcats were playing without Sahvir Wheeler and TyTy Washington.
Hopkins moved forward and scored 13 points off the seat in only 16 minutes, and gave Kentucky a lead against the Tigers.
Hopkins never saw a lot of playing time regardless of John Calipari demanding that he should play Hopkins more after his touchy night against LSU.
Hopkins didn’t see the floor in Kentucky’s last two rounds of the time, the two losses to Tennessee and Saint Peter’s.
Hopkins saw double-digit minutes just twice in SEC play.
