Starling Marte is a Dominican professional baseball outfielder for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played in MLB for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Arizona Diamondbacks, Miami Marlins, and Oakland Athletics.

In the minors, he mostly played center field for the Pittsburgh Pirates after signing with them in 2007. Marte batted.315 in 60 games for the Bradenton Marauders, the Pirates’ Class A club in 2010. In addition to 16 doubles and five triples, he stole 22 bases during that season.

The 2011 All-Star Futures Game featured Marte, who played for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

During his time with Altoona Curve, Marte was named to Eastern League mid-and post-season all-star teams, as well as Baseball America and Topps Double-A all-star teams. He was also named to the Milb.com organization’s all-star team for his work in 2011.

Marte was selected as the Eastern League’s player of the week on August 15, 2011. On top of that, Marte was voted Eastern League Rookie of the Year and Eastern League Batting Champion.

On November 18, 2011, Marte was added to the Pittsburgh Pirates’ 40-man roster.

Concerning his personal life, Starling Marte has three children. His children are Starling Jr., Smerling, and his daughter Tiana. Their mother, Noelia Brazoban died in May 2020 after suffering a heart attack.
