Jeffrey Robert Hoffman is an American professional baseball pitcher who currently plays for the Colorado Rockies in Major League Baseball’s National League West (MLB).
East Carolina University was the site of his collegiate baseball career. For his senior year of high school, Hoffman was a pitcher for the Latham High School baseball team.
He had a 7–0 record as a junior pitcher. Shaker High School beat Colonie High School in the Section II Class AA championship game in Hoffman’s senior year.
Hoffman threw 101 pitches over seven innings, striking out nine. His fastball clocked in at an average speed of 82–83 mph (132–134 km/h) and he failed to be noticed by Division I collegiate baseball clubs in the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
To be noticed by collegiate baseball teams, Hoffman threw in the off-season for Connie Mack Baseball. His fastball rose to 92 MPH (148 km/h). ECU (Division I, Conference USA) subsequently signed him to a letter of intent because of this.
