One of the professional baseball pitchers currently in the Cincinnati Reds organization is Hunter Strickland, born Hunter Drew Strickland. Hunter began his professional career in 2007 when he was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 18th round of the draft. He signed with them and made his professional debut with the GCL Red Sox that year.
In the 2008 minor league season, he played for the Low-A Lowell Spinners and he spent the 2009 season with the Single-A Greenville Drive. The Red Sox traded him to Pittsburgh Pirates in July 2009. In April 2013, he was claimed off waivers by the San Francisco Giants.
The Giants called him up to the majors for the first time on September 1, 2014, and he made his MLB debut that same day for the Giants. Hunter signed a minor league contract with the New York Mets in June 2020 and signed a minor league contract with the Tampa Bay Rays in February 2021.
The Rays traded his contract to the Los Angeles Angels in May 2021. In June that year, he was traded again to the Milwaukee Brewers. Finally, in March 2022, the Cincinnati Reds signed him on a one-year contract.
