Kyle Farmer is an American professional baseball shortstop and catcher for the Cincinnati Reds of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Marist School in Atlanta, Georgia, where Farmer played baseball and football, prepared him for a successful career in the sports industry.
Farmer acted as a high school quarterback in the Hollywood blockbuster The Blind Side (2009) while still a student at Marist.
Farmer was a standout shortstop for the University of Georgia (UGA) Bulldogs, batting.308 with a.968 fielding percentage, a UGA Baseball team record for the position.
In 2011, he was a member of the Bourne Braves of the Cape Cod Baseball League, a collegiate summer baseball team. New York Yankees made Farmer their 35th-round draft pick in 2012, but he declined to join the team.
A contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers was eventually negotiated after he was selected in the eighth round (244) of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft.
The Dodgers decided to make Farmer a catcher instead of a pitcher.
