Mike Moustakas is an American professional baseball infielder for the Cincinnati Reds of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played for the Kansas City Royals and Milwaukee Brewers.
Moustakas played four years of varsity baseball at Chatsworth High School in Chatsworth, California.
During that period, he led Chatsworth to a 124–11 record, which included four West Valley League championships and two California Interscholastic Federation city championships.
In both his sophomore and junior years, Cal-Hi Sports named Moustakas as the Player of the Year. His high school career total of 52 home runs is a state record for a prep player in California.
In his debut game as quarterback for Chatsworth, Moustakas suffered a broken ankle, which terminated his high school football career and nearly destroyed his baseball career as well.
However, Moustakas was able to return to the field after three months of rehabilitation. A member of the U.S. Baseball Junior National Team in 2006, Moustakas was a participant at the World Junior Championships in Cuba.
